TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — Alabama state troopers are investigating a crash that killed three people in Pike County, according to a press release.

At 10:30 p.m. Monday, a 17-year-old was driving his 2008 Nissan Sentra when he hit a trailer carried by a 2005 Freightliner truck driving onto Pike County Road 2276, 1.5 miles west of Henderson.

The minor and one of his passengers — Denny Strickland, 18, of Luverne — died in the collision. Another two passengers were taken to “local hospitals” for treatment.

The bloodshed did not end there as shortly after the first collision, truck driver West Wheeler, 70, of Troy was hit by former Troy basketball player Wesley Person’s 2007 Mercedes C230 when he stepped outside.

Wheeler died at the scene.

Person, the passenger in his Mercedes and a passenger in the Freightliner were also taken to area hospitals for treatment.
