DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Reports have revealed a recent brutal stabbing stemmed from a fight between two siblings.
According to police, Dentavious Jamal Givens, 24, began arguing with his older sister, Jasmine Coleman, outside the M & J Beauty Supply store.
During the argument, Givens reportedly began beating his sister in the head with a stick. She responded by using a box cutter to defend herself.
“He was bleeding from his neck, his arm and chest area,” said Dothan Lt. Lynn Watkins. “He had lost a lot of blood. Rescue was called, and he was taken to the medical center for treatment.”
This isn’t the first time Givens has had a run-in with the law.
Last year, he was connected to the murder of Neal Craft Barber of Dothan. Craft’s body was found with blunt force trauma to his head and several other injuries.
“He was charged with murder in September of 2018,” Watkins said. “He is possibly looking at having his bond and that charge revoked as well.”
At the time of Thursday’s stabbing, Givens was on a $150,000 bond from the 2018 murder, so he has no bond in this case.
However, he has been charged with one count of second-degree assault.
Friday morning, WDHN stopped by M & J Beauty Supply where it appeared to be open. However, later that afternoon, a Google search said the business is permanently closed.
