Pond crash victim identified as Ft. Rucker woman

UPDATE:

The victim in the crash discovered Friday morning has been identified as a Fort Rucker woman, according to Coroner Robert Byrd.

Lauren Moore, 25, reportedly crashed her car sometime Thursday. Her vehicle was discovered Friday morning after tracks were reportedly found leading into a pond off of Highway 84 around Wicksburg and Bay Springs.

We are still awaiting an official account from the highway patrol as to what happened.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

WICKSBURG, Ala. (WDHN) — A person is dead after their car drove into a pond in the Wicksburg area.

Alabama state troopers, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the Houston County Rescue Unit, and Wicksburg Fire & Rescue spent the morning working to pull the vehicle from the water. Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd was also on the scene.

The vehicle appears to be a red Acura. It suffered damage across its front bumper.

As of right now, we have been told by a trooper at the scene that authorities are working to tell the victim’s family about their death. More information is expected later in the day.
