DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The investigation into what happened with a Houston County inmate left in a transport van for hours has concluded, according to Sheriff Donald Valenza.

When the news first broke, Valenza could not comment on the situation but did tell us the case was under internal investigation.

Several weeks later, WDHN News has learned that the sheriff’s office completed the investigation. Valenza said the next step would be to speak to District Attorney Pat Jones to see if he thinks it needs to go any further.

“If he doesn’t, disciplinary action has been taken, and we’ve also had a change or adoption amendment in our policy for transports,” he said.

The inmate, 22-year-old Jaquana Reed, has been in the Houston County Jail since May 28.
