ENTERPRISE Ala. (WDHN) — An Enterprise family is grieving the loss of one of its members after a fatal shooting this past weekend.
Latosha Genita Jones, 31, of Enterprise was found dead with a gunshot to the head.
“When I got there, I walked up in there and seen her body lying behind a car, and I looked down, and she wasn’t moving, and I figured she was deceased then,” said Rocky Jones, Latosha Jones’ second cousin.
According to Rocky Jones, this isn’t the first time tragedy has struck his family. He said Jones’ mother disappeared in 1999 and was later discovered at the bottom of the Pea River “known as the Missing Six.”
“My heart really goes out to her boys cause they’re going to go through the same thing she went through with losing her mom at an early age,” Rocky Jones said.
He also said that Latosha Jones was visiting family when the incident happened and that the violence could have been avoided.
“I got family members that are highly upset, and I’m one of them, but I got enough sense to let it go and live on because, at the end of the day, it ain’t gonna change nothing,” Rocky Jones said.
Erica Latoya Alexander was charged with murder, and she is currently being held at the Coffee County Jail.
“It’s just wild, but you know, life is a lesson to be learned, and I hope after this situation, my family can learn something just as well others because this is a tragedy,” Rocky Jones said.
He also said the pain will remain with his family forever.
