OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — With information coming out about a new suspect in the Beasley-Hawlett murder case, community members expressed their thoughts about the situation to WDHN both online and in-person.

Back in 1999, the City of Ozark was shocked when police found two missing girls in the back of a car, and 20 years later, the small city of 15,000 people learned that Coley McCraney is the new suspect in the murders of J.B Beasley and Tracie Hawlett.

While many of the neighbors didn’t want to speak on camera, they did tell me they hope this arrest brings closure to their families.

As for readers online, many of them posted their thoughts about the matter online:

These are a few of the comments people have made on Facebook since WDHN first broke the story. We’ve censored the names to protect their privacy.

Neighbors also said they don’t know how someone could do something like this, and sometimes it feels like someone is watching from the woods whenever they go to visit the memorial.
