DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The child of a pregnant woman hurt in a shooting on Florida Avenue has died, according to Dothan police.

Police said Shawn Callins was inside his home on May 25 when four men tried to rob him, shooting Callins when he tried to fight back.

Caught in the chaos was Kenisha Lee, who was six and a half months pregnant at the time when she was reportedly shot twice.

Callins died while Lee was taken to Pensacola for treatment, suffering heavy blood loss and having to have a C-section to save the baby.

For weeks, the family has been on edge while the baby fought for his life on life support until he died Friday morning.

This will add another murder charge to Willie Blackmon of Dothan, Kaleb Tubbs of Dothan, Carlos Lindsey of Opp, and David Key of Abbeville. They are being kept in the Houston County Jail without bond.

“On behalf of the Dothan Police Department, we would like to express our condolences for the families of all victims involved in this senseless tragedy,” a release from the Dothan Police Department says.
