DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — It’s been a violent past 24 hours in the city of Dothan, with incidents spreading across the central and northwestern parts of town.
As a result, we mapped all the crimes that took place from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon.
First, Dothan police responded to an assault with a firearm Wednesday afternoon. This was not a shooting but rather a blunt force attack with the gun.
The victim was said to have suffered non-critical injuries.
Later that evening, a Hispanic man was stabbed and had to be rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. The victim is in a stable but critical condition, and Dothan police are now searching for suspect Elmer Gomez.
Gomez and the victim reportedly knew one another prior to the attack.
Dothan police responded to a single-vehicle accident overnight. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Police combed the area around Greenwood Drive and Seminole Drive following a fatal shooting. Witnesses say the shooting happened after a heated argument between a pedestrian and a driver.
The suspect fled wearing “an orange, yellowish and some sort of matching Halloween-style mask.” The victim died from his injuries.
