GORDON, Ala. (WDHN) — Former Mayor Elbert Melton was stripped of his power after the town accused of him abandoning his duties at the height of the storm.

After Melton, Shana Ray became the mayor of the town five months ago. Residents believe the town is progressing tremendously. Gordon’s population is comprised of 70% senior citizens and many of the seniors were displaced from their home. Since then all of the seniors have returned back to their home.

“We are working really hard to progressing. We are moving forward today, we have finally got most of or work done and we are moving back into city hall,” said Lori Mock, a Gordon Town Clerk said.

Gordon’s next workshop meeting is August 7 and the town hall meeting will be held at the Senior Citizen Building on August 14 at 5 p.m.
