DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Haven held their official ribbon cutting Tuesday afternoon.
The Haven helps those who are 19 and over that have an addiction to any substance. They previously operated in a building that was built in 1963, but it was difficult to meet the requirements for state certification.
The Haven now has 16 beds for men and 16 for women, which is more than they previously had.
The public was able to see firsthand what people at the Haven do to better these people to get them off drugs and alcohol and have a productive life.
“Addiction does not discriminate, it doesn’t care whats your race, what your ethnicity is, of any kind, it doesn’t care what your age is. It doesn’t care if your male or female, it doesn’t care what your house cost, you know it just doesn’t care,” said Melissa Kirkland, CEO of Spectracare Health Systems.
Kirkland said they are blessed to have so many partnerships that helped make this possible.
