Suspect identified in four-year-old Marianna murder case


MARIANNA, Fla. (WDHN) — A man already serving time in prison has been charged with a murder that happened back in 2015. according to the Marianna Police Department.

On Jan. 19, 2015, David Tinsley, 72, was found dead by Marianna police officers.

Investigators determined that foul play was involved and have searched for the person responsible for years, collecting evidence from the scene as well as interviewing witnesses.

Eventually, they identified Jessie M. Jackson as their suspect, charging him with second-degree murder Friday.

Jackson is being held at the Columbia Correctional Institute in Lake City, Florida, for an unrelated crime.

“Chief Hayes Baggett would like to thank everyone involved in this investigation for their hard work in this case without the help from the 14th Judicial Circuit State Attorneys Major Crimes Division and the Florida Department Law Enforcement this outcome would not have been possible,” a release from the department states.
