Dothan police search for suspect in near-fatal stabbing

UPDATE:

Dothan police are searching for a suspect Wednesday night’s near-fatal stabbing.

The department identified Elmer Gomez as the suspect in the case, in which a man was stabbed in the upper chest on Kristie Road and left in critical condition.

Gomez was last seen near Kristie Road after the stabbing. Police say the parties involved in the stabbing know one another and that there is no danger to the public.

The victim has been stabilized but remains in critical condition.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan police responded to a stabbing on Kristie Road Wednesday evening.

When WDHN arrived on the scene, an ambulance was pulling away and caution tape was being put up. According to authorities, a Hispanic male was stabbed in the chest. Close sources say the weapon nicked his heart.

The victim was taken to the hospital where reports say he was in critical condition.

At this time, there are no suspects.
