DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Tragic news for a former member of the WDHN family.

Former weatherman Mitch English’s son Sawyer was found dead in his home this week after what has been called a violent crime in Oklahoma City.

Mitch worked as a weatherman for several broadcast stations, including WDHN, in Dothan before taking his broadcasting career across the nation. During his time in Dothan, Mitch was well-loved by audience members and was known for his sense of humor.

“The fact that his 24-year-old son got violently killed is breaking my heart,” said WDHN general manager Janie Hinson, who worked with Mitch both during his time in radio and television.

Mitch now works on the Daily Flash in Orlando — 1,252.5 miles from Oklahoma City, where his other children Zoe, 19; Brooker, 21, and Carter, 26, live.

To cover the costs of travel, funeral expenses and having to take time off of work, a GoFundMe was created to help support the family and give them the time they need to grieve Sawyer’s death.
