ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) — Around 5:30 Tuesday morning, Elba Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident that happened on Highway 87 North.
The original call was dispatched as a truck striking a tree with the tree laying over the roadway; however, when police officers arrived they found the driver trapped inside and partially ejected.
Firefighters spent 50 minutes cutting the tree to free the driver. After the driver was freed, he was transported to a local medical facility by Enterprise Rescue and later to a major trauma center for treatment.
Multiple nearby law enforcement agencies helped with the accident.
