DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – Drivers who travel Westgate Parkway on Dothan’s northwest side will have to be patient for a few more days.

Earlier this month, the roadway between Denton Road and Technology Drive was closed for railroad upgrades.

But, after the railroad work was completed and paving along the tracks was done, the city received complaints. Drivers even took to Facebook to voice concerns about the rough paving job.

Southern Commercial Development, a CSX Transportation sub-contractor, performed those upgrades at the crossing. In an email to WDHN this weekend, the company said the railroad crossing will again be closed to allow for re-paving, hopefully providing Westgate Parkway drivers with a smoother ride.

The company will be re-closing the roadway this Tuesday around 3:00 a.m. The closure to fix the issue is expected to last about twenty-four hours before the road can be reopened.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to get this issue corrected,” a spokesperson for Southern Commercial Development said.

The company expects to reopen the roadway during the early morning hours Wednesday.
