DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — With many schools posting supply lists, WDHN grabbed one and hit the aisles to see how much money parents might be spending on school supplies.
With the excitement of preparing for a new school year, comes the prices of the school supplies.
So about how much money could a parent spend to prepare their child for school? WDHN headed to the store to find out.
Binders, crayons, and backpacks were just a few of the items listed on the shopping list. One shopper told WDHN some items proved more difficult to find than others.
“Dividers and red pens,” said fifth grader, Alex Clark. “It took us two stores to find those.”
Once all the supplies were found, it was time for what many consider the most stressful part: checking out.
Some people told News 18 about their own ways of cutting costs.
“We like to go when it’s tax-free weekend so we’re out there with everybody, but we were going to be out of town,” said parent Jessica Taylor. “We happened to all be up early one morning (so) we just decided, ‘Hey you wanna go get school supplies? Yeah!'”
While other shoppers checked out, some admired their new finds.
“My favorite thing has to be the notebooks because I got a Lamborghini one,” Clark said.
After finding everything on WDHN’s shopping list, the final price came out to be $63.86.
