GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The town of Samson held its annual veteran’s day celebration at the high school.
The school’s student government organized its “Salute to Veterans”. More than two dozen former service members were honored at the annual ceremony.
The guest speaker was Army Staff Sgt. Bryan McQueen. In September 2018, in the war zone of Afghanistan, McQueen’s helmet saved his life. Mcqueen took a direct shot to the head from an AK-47 about 20 feet away.
“To the young people even though its kind of chaotic in our country. We don’t fight for politics but instead those to our brothers to the right and left and basic constitutional rights of the American people,” Mcqueen said.
The ceremony concluded with a parade of veterans in the Samson High Gymnasium.
