HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The newest member of the Houston County School Board of Education has been decided by a roll of the dice.
Tuesday afternoon, the Houston County Republican Executive Committee held a final runoff between school board candidates district 2, Rickey Moore and Scott Long.
During the runoff, Moore and Long rolled a set of dice three times. Their overall score determined the winner.
In the end, it would be Long who defeated incumbent Moore.
Moore rolled a 1, 2, and 1 for a total of 4.
Long rolled a 2, 2, 7 for a total of 11.
According to Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, the last time an election was decided in similar fashion was the Clay County Sheriff’s race in 2018. A coin flip determined the winner of that race.
