(WDHN) — Rep. Martha Roby and other congressmen asking for aid for Alabama farmers.

The letter asks the U.S. Department of Agriculture to approve the Alabama Recovery Relief program, giving block aid grants to farmers impacted by Hurricane Michael and other natural disasters.

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industry said this program could cost $51.14 million.

Agriculture and its related industries make up 41 percent of Alabama’s economy.
