Restaurant employees feeling the effects of COVID-19 pandemic

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Due to Coronavirus, many restaurants around the city have been forced to make changes.

With restaurants having to close their dine-in services to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the demand is not only affecting the restaurant revenue, but also server employees.

The manager of the Blue Plate restaurant in Dothan says it’s tough to see her employees go through this hard time.

“Our servers rely on $2.13 an hour plus tips so this is definitely so this is definitely taking a hit from their pockets. Our hourly paid employees are having to cut their shifts back and we hate to do that as business owners and staff,” Brittany Robinette said. “We hate to do that to me but our loyal customers understand and they are sticking with us.”

Robinette says she hopes the storm passes soon. As of now, she’s rotating her employees so they all have an opportunity to make money.
