(WDHN) — With elections starting up again, former Justice Roy Moore is projected to be the Republicans’ top contender for Doug Jones’ Senate seat.

The Mason-Dixon survey found that Moore ranked the highest among potential Republican candidates with 27 percent of voters saying they would choose him.

Moore previously ran for the Senate seat amidst sexual abuse allegations during a special election in 2017. He lost to Jones by around 21,000 votes.

Other potential candidates chosen by voters were U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, who said Thursday afternoon that he would not run against Jones, and Rep. Bradley Byrne, who announced his intention to unseat Jones earlier in the year.
