Police searching for suspect in Ark Thrift store burglary

DOTHAN Ala. (WDHN) — The Ark Thrift Store on West Main Street was broken into and burglarized Sunday morning.

Police say the crime happened at 6:35 a.m. by a person wearing a white disposable suit.

“Officers responded to the 400 block of West Main Street in reference to a burglar alarm,” Dothan Police Sergeant David Saxon said. “When they arrived on scene, they noticed that the front door glass had been broken out.”

The store administrator said the suspect can be seen walking past the store.

A few moments later, the suspect can be seen walking back and smashing the door.

Then, the suspect runs in and grabs the register and is seen leaving the store. The store administrator believes this will only benefit the store.

“We’re a transition facility for those coming in homeless, drug abuse, and prison,” store administrator Denice Papac said. “So, people have been very sympathetic to us. I think it will help us more than it will harm us.”

The people at the Ark Thrift Store say they intend to help people and have no bad feelings towards the suspect. They only wish the suspect will turn themselves in.

“So, if the suspect is watching at all, the best thing for him to do is turn himself in because we are people that believe in forgiveness, grace, and mercy,” Papac said.

The police do not have any leads on the suspect at this time, and the store says to contact Dothan police with any information you have.
