Overnight Eufaula stabbing leads to suspect’s arrest


EUFAULA, Ala. (WDHN) — An early morning domestic incident has resulted in the death of a Eufaula man, according to Eufaula Police Chief Steve Watkins.

After searching for the suspect of the alleged involvement in the incident, police arrested Latonya M. Grubbs of Eufaula early Saturday morning.

The Eufaula Police Department was informed of the incident after receiving a call from the Eufaula Communications Division about a domestic assault at a residence in the Chattahoochee Courts Apartment complex at 2:24 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a male with numerous stab wounds to his upper and lower body. Then, Officers began emergency field wound treatment quickly. The Eufaula Rescue Department transported the victim to Medical Center Barbour.

Around 5:10 a.m., Randy Earl Smith, the victim, was pronounced dead.

The incident is under active investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
