Opp City Schools cancel in-person classes amid rise in COVID-19 numbers

News

OPP, Ala. (WDHN) — Opp City Schools will not hold in-person instruction for the next four school days, according to Opp City Schools Superintendent Michael Smithart.

All in-person instruction will be cancelled until Tuesday, Oct. 27. In the meantime, all classes will be conducted virtually and all extracurricular activities have been suspended.

Wednesday afternoon, Smithart posted on the Opp City Schools Facebook page that the schools had seen a “slight uptick in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19.”

The closures come just one day after the school system’s Facebook account announced that the Opp vs. W.S. Neal football game set for Friday, Oct. 23, had been cancelled.
