HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Area nursing homes are in desperate need of disposable gowns, masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and Lysol, according to a local service organization.
Individuals or businesses that would like to help by donating these items can call or text the Houston County Volunteer Organizations Against Disasters (VOAD) at (334) 440-6372.
“If anybody has access to any PPE gear, Lysol or hand sanitizer,” Griffin said. “Your donations are greatly appreciated.”
If you don’t receive an answer, representatives say leave a message and someone will get back to you.
Arrangements will be made to get the supplies.
“We’re creating a PPE drive to help benefit the local area nursing homes,” Volunteer Active and Disaster Chair Gary Griffin said. “As you know PPE supplies are in very short demand and getting access to those supplies is at a critical state.”
PPE stands for personal protective equipment. One nursing home said they are going steady with supplies now, but may face difficulty in the coming weeks.
The organization is focusing on three homes right now to give supplies, but want to help all homes in the area.
