DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Haven is preparing to give the Wiregrass an inside look at its brand new facilities.
“There are two new buildings, beautiful buildings, built on the property,” said Community Programs Director Ebony Crews. “We were able to increase the number of beds, which means we increase the numbers that we are able to serve everyday.”
Due to strict confidentiality laws, The Haven has not been open to the public, but that will soon change.
During the center’s upcoming grand opening, the two new facilities will be open to the public — giving people an opportunity to learn what the center is all about.
“So many people struggle with addiction and so any community support, any community buy-in, reduces stigma,” Crews explained.
Staff members aren’t the only ones encouraging a big community turnout.
“(The public can) see firsthand what people are trying to do to better these people to get them off the drugs, get them off the alcohol, and have a productive life,” said patient Sean O’Gara.
The center’s ribbon cutting will be held Tuesday, July 30th, at ten a.m. with open house lasting from 10:30 a.m. to six p.m.
The Haven is also selling $10 raffle tickets for a chance to win one of two prize packages valued at $1,500.
Tickets will be on sale until the drawing at 5 p.m. at the open house.
