New baiting law now in effect in Alabama

Hunting season is just around the corner and game wardens want to remind everyone of a new baiting law for deer and hog hunting.

The law was passed earlier this year by the legislature and allows hunters to purchase a license to hunt with bait.

“We wanted the public to be aware this year that the baiting privilege license has passed the legislator, so now it is legal to bait deer and feral swine (wild hogs) in Alabama. For a person that is a resident, it will cost you 15 dollars and a non-resident it will cost you $51,” Officer Tim Ward said.

For more information on the new baiting law, you can call the Alabama Department of Conservation Office in Enterprise at 334-347-9467.
