HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — WDHN has learned more about Thursday night’s double stabbing incident in southern Houston County.
Around 9:45 p.m. Houston County deputies responded to a stabbing call at 55 Singletary Road and 35 Dean Road.
When authorities arrived, they reportedly found a woman bleeding from a stab wound.
According to neighbors, the woman and a man were sitting in a truck at the man’s grandmother’s house when the woman cut the man with a knife and he responded by stabbing her.
Neighbors told WDHN the woman then ran to a nearby house — bleeding and begging for help.
Neighbors inside the house called the sheriff’s office and once authorities arrived, the woman was taken to a nearby hospital with heavy bleeding.
The man reportedly suffered a minor injury to one of his fingers.
Neighbors told News 18 they’ve been told the man acted out of self defense.
Houston County Sheriff’s Office Major Bill Rafferty told said information is limited as the investigation is ongoing.
Rafferty also said investigators are working to get both sides of the story, but they are having to wait as one individual is still receiving medical care.
