DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Traffic was heavy around the Dothan Regional Airport Thursday morning for emergency preparedness exercises.
In the first scenario, a woman was attempting to sneak a bomb on the plane but was quickly stopped. Dothan Regional Airport holds emergency preparedness exercises every two years involving multiple agencies.
These training exercises help agencies be prepared for possible events that may occur.
“At the end of the day, this whole thing is about if we ever actually have a really bad incident. The regional team will respond and come together and that makes the people in this area safer,” Battalion Chief Stephen Messer said.
The airport’s busy day didn’t stop after that simulated bomb threat. Just a while later, agencies participated in a mock plane crash.
