Mayor Bill Cooper proclaims June Elder Abuse Month

News

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Enterprise Mayor William Cooper signed a proclamation noting June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month.

Mayor Cooper along with employees at the Coffee County Department of Human Resources office said elder abuse cases continue to increase. DHR investigators looked into several thousand reports of elder abuse in Alabama last year.

“There are adults suffering in our community and we want to bring attention to that and let folks know that we investigate those.”

DHR offices across the state are looking for foster adult homes for those individuals who are facing possible abuse. If interested, contact your county DHR office.
