OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WDHN) — A Fort Walton Beach man attacked a mattress with a bedpost after smoking meth earlier in the day, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Felipe Oquendo, 37, reportedly started behaving erratically as he accused his girlfriend of having an affair.

With whom, you ask? According to Oquendo, a man hiding in the couple’s mattress was to blame.

Oquendo’s girlfriend told authorities he began stabbing at the mattress with a bedpost and tore apart the mattress apart with his bare hands. During the incident, the mattress killer locked the bedroom door to keep his girlfriend in the room.

“He had locked the bedroom door and would not allow his girlfriend to leave, but while he was moving the mattress around she was able to unlock the door,” a release from the sheriff’s office states.

She then managed to call the authorities to the home on Willow Bend at around 1:10 a.m.

“Oquendo told OCSO deputies he was fighting the man in the mattress, holding him down when they arrived, but the man then slipped out and left,” the release states.

Upon further questioning, Oquendo then admitted that he had smoked methamphetamine earlier in the day. Authorities charged him with domestic violence-related false imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oquendo’s girlfriend was unharmed. However, the sheriff’s office did not mention if the mattress survived its injuries.
