Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth talks workforce development at Wallace

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Lt. Governor of Alabama made a stop in the Wiregrass Wednesday.

Will Ainsworth, along with other local officials, stopped by Wallace Community College to tour the campus and discuss workforce development. The college has many programs to help prepare students for jobs and Ainsworth says he believes community colleges play the biggest role in preparing students.

During his speech, he talked about new technology that can help young students decide on their role in the workforce.

“We want to get people to start thinking about what they want do with their career and their life. What we found in looking at data, students don’t understand the opportunities out there and they don’t understand how to get there. So what this app is going to do, is educate on the opportunities out there and then second how do they get there which is important,” Governor Ainsworth said.

The new technology should be launched sometime this year. Governor Ainsworth says he will address workforce issues such as funding for workforce equipment for community colleges in the next legislative meeting.
