Local strongman sets new world record

ABBEVILLE. Ala. (WDHN) — A man tried his hand to set a new world record in Abbeville Friday.

70-year-old Les Davis, the only man to bend 50 steel bars with his own teeth, decided to add to his fourteen other broken records by creating one of his own.

The challenge was to break six shackles in under a minute.

Davis did it in 33 seconds. He said he is grateful for the opportunity to show his strength.

“I wanna run that message to the young peoples, you know, in school,” Davis said.

“I said, ‘If you give your best, the best will come to you.'”

Davis said he plans to take the record to the Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley’s Believe It or Not for recognition.
