DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — After Auburn hired new head coach Bryan Harsin, WDHN took to the streets to get reaction on the new man on the plains.

Talkin on SEC host Phillip Jordan, Gameplan Sports Talk Radio Host Lance Griffin, and former Auburn Quarterback and current Geneva County head football coach Jim Bob Striplin agreed that it was great hire for the program.

“I’m not going to sit here and say I knew everything about Bryan Harsin coming in to this but when the hire was made I looked him up 69-19 out of Boise, three conference championships there in the mountain west, he was 7-5 at Arkansas State the year before that, replaced Gus Malzahn at Arkansas State and now he can do it again,” Jordan said.

“Appearances indicate he wasn’t the first or second choice but he;s been successful at a couple of programs now and he’s a winner and he’s likeable and I think the fans can root for him thats good. The question will be can he recruit and go toe to toe with Nick Saban, Kirby Smart and Jimbo Fisher,” Griffin said.

“This kid has proven himself up at Boise State I think he won 9 games the last six seasons so he’s a proven winner. He really kinda reminds me of Coach Peterson before he left to Washington,” Striplin said.

All of them said they are glad the coaching carousel is over and they can’t wait to see how Coach Harsin will pan out on the Plains for years to come.
