DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) Eunafaye Wise said she always thought she would be able to be by her children’s sides during tough times, but COVID-19 had other ideas.
Wise sat outside Flowers hospital from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and will likely be there until late into the night.
Her son, Mike Wise, is having open-heart surgery, but no one could be in the hospital due to the pandemic.
Wise is 86 years old but said she still wanted to be there for her son, no matter how long she had to wait in 100-degree heat.
“And I felt, that that’s where I needed to be,” Wise said. “God has always taken care of me. He’s carried me through all my trials and temptations, and I love my children.”
She said she plans on staying until the surgery is over around 7 or 8 in the evening.
