HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — There was a sweeeeeet competition in Henry County Monday morning.
Sugar cane farmers and syrup makers from around the Wiregrass met for the annual Syrup Makers Field Day.
They compared crops and cane syrup with a friendly competition.
Each farmer brought a sample of their sugar cane, and each was tested to see which crop would produce the most syrup.
“We are doing everything from planting a stalk of cane to putting syrup in a bottle,” said Joe Todd, founder of Todd Farms.
There was also a demonstration of a power mill that was designed by Todd and manufactured by Industrial Metal Works located here in Dothan.
