(WDHN) — Several severe weather shelters have opened as the Wiregrass prepares for a severe storm system making its way toward the area.
Calvary Assembly of God Church in Clio is opening at 8 p.m. tonight for shelter for anyone who needs a safe haven through the storm. Each family will be put in a separate classroom in order to comply with social distancing. Bring your own food and sleeping bags.
Andalusia Junior High School multi-purpose room will open as a public shelter. This shelter is located at 701 Third Street Andalusia, Alabama 36420 and it will be open at 9 p.m. April 12, 2020. If you plan to utilize this shelter, please bring everything you will need while there. This includes but are not limited to; camp chairs, bedding, snacks, water, electronic devices and chargers for those devices…etc. Finally, be sure you get to the shelter before a warning is issued. DO NOT attempt to travel to the shelter after a tornado warning has been issued.
Daleville Culture Center will be opened at 10:00pm today for those who wish to seek shelter. The address is 740 S Daleville Ave. If you need to seek shelter with us bring snacks, food and other personal items needed to stay overnight. At this time NO food will be provided. If you have animals with you they need to be in a cage. The animals with be stored in the fire department bay. If you have any questions please call 598-4442. 6 Foot spacing between people seeking shelter will be enforced.
Slocomb Senior Citizens Center will be opened at 10:00 pm tonight for those who wish to seek shelter. The address is 134 W Bateman. If you need to seek shelter with us bring snacks, food, and other personal items needed to stay overnight. At this time NO food will be provided. NO pets allowed. Please wear a mask and 6 Foot spacing between people seeking shelter will be enforced.
