DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Wiregrass Area Food Bank has wrapped up its Thanksgiving distribution Wednesday.
During the month of November, the food bank gave out about 320 pounds of food, which means $250,000 meals have gone out to Wiregrass residents.
The food bank now is getting ready for Christmas. The bank has a couple of weeks to prepare which will consist of restocking the warehouse.
“Right now our shelves are looking pretty low in the nonperishables department, so we need help with Christmas food drives, and we need people to do those Christmas donations,” Assistant Director Julie Gonzalez said. “Whatever you considered doing for Thanksgiving, if you missed your opportunity there, there’s still an opportunity to help at Christmas.”
Gonzalez thanks everyone who has donated to help the food bank have a great Thanksgiving season this year, and they hope to be able to provide just as much for Christmas.
