ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Two major rehabilitation projects are planned for the Enterprise Municipal Airport later this year.
The city will seek bids to repave the tarmac known as the “ramp” behind the terminal. It will allow larger corporate planes to park at the airport. The airport plans to build a new, updated air terminal on property adjacent to the current building.
90 % of the two separate projects will be paid by the Federal Aviation Administration grant money.
“If we have a larger plane and depending on the size of the plane, they can sink into the apron because we need to strengthen our tarmac,” Communication Director Jason Wright said.
The repaving and new airport terminal building will carry a total price tag of around two million dollars. The city and state will each chip in half of the local match required by the FAA.
