New Brockton, Ala. (WDHN)—Ground clearing is underway for an advanced food service distribution center.
It will serve Texas-based Ben E. Keith, a major food, and beverage distribution company.
This week, the state announced it’ll pay the “Lion share” of an approximate 700-thousand dollar transportation project.
It’ll create “Auxiliary turn lanes” into the future Ben E. Keith food distribution center off the
Highway 84 New Brockton Bypass. Assistant Coffee County Engineer Michael Walters says
“These turn lanes will be specific for that, and it should make driving on the bypass a lot safer.”
Ben E. Keith purchased Elba-based Kelley Foods several years ago. The future Central Coffee County
facility will be in the neighborhood of one-million square feet. When complete, it’ll employ between
seven-hundred and a thousand wiregrass residents.
