ELBA/OPP, Ala. (WDHN) — A suspect is in custody after a highspeed chase began near Onycha and ended in Elba.
Around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, an Alabama State Trooper attempted to pull over an individual driving a white Jeep Compass. The suspect refused to stop and ended up on the U.S. Highway 84 bypass.
According to a source, the Jeep reached speeds of 120 mph. During the chase, one of the state trooper’s tires blew. Opp police then joined the chase and later Elba police.
The suspect was apprehended near Weeks Tire.
In photos provided to WDHN, the suspect’s vehicle can be seen with damage to its tires.
At this time, WDHN does not know the suspect’s name nor why he or she was being pulled over. WDHN will update this story as more information becomes available.
