Three well-known men running for the Geneva Mayor seat

Geneva, Ala. (WDHN)—Alabama’s municipal elections’ are a little more than a week away.

Here in the Wiregrass, one of the hottest races can be found in the City of Two Rivers.

With Geneva Mayor Frankie Lindsey’s decision to retire, three well-known people are vying for the post.

John Hughes has served several terms as a Geneva City Councilman. During his term in office, Hughes says he was part of a team that improved the “overall” look and infrastructure of the city.

If elected mayor, Hughes says He wants to bring needed jobs and industry to his constituents.

I wanna have something for the young people to come back to and again we have to build up the infrastructure and such in order to do that.”

This is commercial real estate developer David Hayes first venture into politics’. The 1978 Geneva High grad is the son of the late H.G. Hayes — a long time banker and pharmacist who is credited with helping put the city on the map.

David says he wants to carry out his father’s vision of bringing high-quality employment
to his hometown.

“The first thing is clean-up the town and getting it presentable so that when people do come its attractive we have to get that done, and then getting more jobs for this town, as soon as we can.”

Former Councilman Greg Adams has spent more than 30-years in law enforcement. He believes the city is on the verge of “Greatness”, and he wants to help recruit industry and retail to the community.

“We’ve been bringing businesses here, but a hard time keeping businesses here. If we can partner with G-tech to bring some skilled training for our workforce here in Geneva,” according to Adams.

All three men have respect for each other, and they say it’s been a clean campaign thus far
going down the final stretch.
