The 71st annual Future Masters is scheduled for June 20 through the 27th.

It will draw just under 500 boys ranging in age from under 10-to-18-years-old.

Volunteer organizer, Angela Turner, said the players and their families will be arriving in Dothan from across the United States and from around the World.

Some of the biggest names’ on the PGA tour got their start at the Future Masters. A week-long tournament at the Dothan Country Club draws some of the finest young golfers.

With the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic taking place, Turner hopes the virus will be under control soon.

In early May, the Future Masters committee will meet again to look at the pandemic and its implications on the 71st edition of the event. The week-long event annually pumps in millions of dollars into Dothan and the wiregrass economies.

Last winter, Dr. Thorton passed away in his nineties. He and his late father were the driving force behind the Future Masters so this year’s event is expected to be dedicated to their memory.
