DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — If you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to show appreciation for your teachers, now is the time.

That’s because it’s “Thank Alabama Teachers Week!”

The week was created to thank educators who are responsible for shaping future leaders of the world, not to mention them putting themselves at risk in order to teach.

Rhonda Hicks, Uniserv director of the Alabama Education Association, said it’s more than just celebrating teachers. It’s everyone in the school system.

“We appreciate you and not just our teachers but all educators,” Hicks said. “We consider the bus drivers, the lunch room workers, the maintenance workers, secretaries, absolutely every single person involved. We appreciate you.”

Hicks told wdhn it’s a team effort and she appreciates them for putting themselves on the frontline despite everything going on.
