ALFORD, Fla. (WDHN) — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of human remains, first found on Wednesday.
That day, a man in Alford found skeletal remains while clearing a wooded portion of his property.
Investigators arrived with help from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Lab and the 14th Judicial Circuit Medical Examiner’s Office, collecting samples of the remains.
More pieces of evidence, including more remains, were found Thursday under some dirt and throughout the wooded area.
For the moment, it’s not known whose bones these are, but missing persons cases have led the investigators to a possible identity. However, no names will be released until an accurate identification is made.
