DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The City of Dothan has a new city manager.
Tuesday evening, Kevin Cowper, alongside his wife, Jenny, met with Dothan residents and spoke about his plans for the future of Dothan.
“I plan to be very visible in the community, very accessible, and I want to hear people,” Dothan City Manager Kevin Cowper said. “I think this is just kind of kicking off that approach for us here in Dothan.”
With the goal being for Cowper and Dothan citizens to meet, some residents said they came out to welcome and show support for the new city manager.
“It’s just important for us to let him know how much we love our great city,” Municipal Court Judge Rose Gordon said. “We have all kinds of opportunities and we’re just excited to have him here to start this era.”
Others said they hope Cowper continues to push Dothan in a successful direction.
“I’m excited for what the city has done for many years and I hope they will continue to build on what we have going here and will make our community even better,” Dothan resident Bill Holland said.
And some residents already have goals in mind for the future of Dothan.
“Continued growth in the city, seeing some new things coming in, some quality of life issues addressed,” Dothan resident Steve Kucinski said. “It’s a nice area and we’ll see where it goes from there.”
Cowper comes from Auburn where he worked as the city’s assistant city manager.
