ANDALUSIA, Ala. (WDHN) — The Covington County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a rape suspect Friday morning.
The sheriff’s office put out an alert late Thursday night asking for citizens to be on the lookout for John Paul Williams, 54. At the time, authorities said Williams was suicidal but also dangerous.
Deputies arrested him on US 29 south of Andalusia after making a felony traffic stop.
Court records show he does have a violent criminal past, having pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree attempted assault and third-degree domestic violence in 2012.
The sheriff’s office said Williams has connections in Samson, Dothan, and Geneva.
