GORDON, Ala. (WDHN) —A fire broke out Thursday afternoon in Gordon on north County Road 81.
A resident notified law enforcement of an outdoor fire.
The resident told first responders that the fire was out of control. Gordon Police Chief Jim Mock said when he first arrived on the scene, one house was being threatened by the fire.
Additional units and the fire department arrived to help evacuate the home. During the process, a couple of propane tanks blew, causing the fire to worsen until the fire department and EMA arrived to put it out.
“All we done, the police, we evacuated the homes, where everybody would be safe,” Mock said. “As soon as the first fire truck got here, they went back there and started putting wood on it, and just put it out.”
At this time the cause of the fire is not known.
