DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Cold weather can be a concern for residents in the Wiregrass, but it’s also a concern for vehicles.
The frigid weather can cause the engine to freeze and the tires to lose air. As for the roads being iced over, mechanics say its best just to pull off to the side of the road and never hit your breaks if you start sliding.
“Well if your coolant to water ratio is not the way it’s supposed to be that can cause severe problems,” Jim Whaley Tires Assistant Manager Dakoda Clark said. “It can cause your engine to freeze up and of course, it can cause your tire pressure to drop as well. For every ten degrees, it’s one pound of tire pressure.”
The frigid temperatures will begin this Tuesday evening. You can read up on more ways to prepare for winter driving in this article by U.S. News.
