CHIPLEY, Fla. (WDHN) — The Chipley Police Department is searching for a man believed to have knowledge of two sexual assaults in Alabama and Florida.

The department made a Facebook post Monday morning, asking for people’s help identifying the man seen in the photo above.

According to the department, the man might have knowledge of two sexual assaults, one happening during a robbery in Dothan on April 1.

Police confirmed that the robbery and sexual assault they are referring to is the one that happened at Andrews Bridal Shoppe.

The other sexual assault, which happened in the course of an abduction, happened on April 3 in Chipley. The suspect in this crime was described as “a heavier set black/male approximately 5’08” – 5’09”, in his early 20’s, no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black Georgia bulldog’s baseball cap, grey hoodie, white wash loose fitting jeans and white high top tennis shoes.”

After further investigation, police were able to find footage that pointed to a new person of interest in the cases, capturing both the man’s appearance and his car.

“The subject is believed to be driving a current model Dodge Journey SE, Red in color, with a Black Top Package, all windows are tinted except for the front windshield, front drivers side and front passenger windows,” a release from the department states. “This package would include a black grill, mirrors, trim under the front bumper and sides, and the wheels will be silver and black.”

Chipley police ask anyone who knows who the man is or has information on his whereabouts to call 850-638-6310 or Crime Stoppers at 850-638-TIPS.
